# 9 Time to Vote

7:53 AM The Talker said... THIS IS A NON-PARTISAN JOKE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY BOTH REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS, SINCE IT'S TRUE OF BOTH PARTIES............... While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. "Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you." "No problem, just let me in," says the man. "Well, I'd like to but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven.. Then you can choose were to spend eternity." "Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the senator. "I'm sorry but we have our rules." And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a club and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that, before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises. The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven." So, 24 hours pass with the head of state joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. "Well then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity." The senator reflects for a minute, then the senator answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell." So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags. The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and club, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now all there is a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?" The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning...... Today you voted

# 8 Religious Quandary

Religious Quandary
The Talker
Shopping for a bible! Which one? King James Version, KJ2, KJ2000, KJ21, the New King James or the Revised King James, or maybe theRevised StandardVersion, or perhaps the New Revised Standard. Not satisfied with those, how about NIV, NIRV, NAB, NASB, NCV, NEB, NET, NJV, NLT,NLV, or NWT , versions . So , I started a "small research" project. Believe it was Elvis Presley ( spelling ?) that had a song with the words '' All shook up " in it, that describes how I ended up, feeling wise.

Found that there are 125 Asian and African languages, with another 500 language variations, of some portions of the bible. There are , in english, more than 3000 versions of the entire bible or portions of the bible.

So when I hear some one ask "do you read the bible", I now ask "which one".
Well, it all starts with " there is no one bible". No one complete version of what "God said " exists, in any form.

Along with the above mentioned versions , there are: Jewish, Catholic, African, American, non-sexist,Husband, Recovery, Living, Good News, and Jerusalem versions that are supposed to be "Gods Word". Problem is that the versions, sadly, have only one thing in common, and that is a "variance" in what was supposedly said by the Creator.

Comparing " edited and sanitized" bible verses and wording , leaves me wondering "what was said originally". If there is no agreement on a version, of what " God inspired men to write", how can one know or agree on what the bible verses actually said.

Bibles are the culmination of an extended process covered with inky fingers, human finger prints, of story telling, writing, cutting and pasting, translating and biased interpretations. This was done by astronomers, geologists, biologists, comparative religionists, archaeologists, anthropologists, philogists, scripture scholars, and theologians.
Anyway, at one point, I " threw the baby out with the bath water". "Oh, woe is me" , went my shaken belief factors. What now? Past experience has shown that "ones lack of understanding about a thing does not mean its false, nor does understanding a thing make it true". So I just let it all lay fallow for a long period of time. During consolatory contemplation ( meaning , feeling sorry for my self) of what seemed to be a big problem , A thought came to me " if this were a piece of equipment that was not working properly, what would you do next? " .
Troubleshoot it. Ahaa, so what's wrong with using ones skill in doing troubleshooting. You've been doing things of that nature for many decades, so try it. So now, trying to use logic in sorting out my disrupted beliefs, I looked at the bible as a piece of broken down equipment. ( had I lived in the 16th or 17th or 18th century , I'd have been in real trouble) So the saying goes,"how do you eat a big elephant, piece by piece". That is what I proceeded to do. Mentally went and gathered up the thrown out bath water, hoping I could find the baby that was suppose to be there. Ah, sweet progress. Where all my questions answered? Nope. Do I now have all the answers, nope. Will I ever have all the answers, give me a break. Have sifted and winnowed through bibles and verses ( faith, where are you ?) until I thought I was going to lose it all. Little by little , pieces started to come together , like a huge jig-saw puzzle.
Wasn't as bad as I thought, it was worse. But at least a semblance of coherency started creeping in. Am I at total peace with all this, not really, so I'll keep nibbling away at it. I don't have all the answers ,maybe never will, but who does? My conclusions, sorry , that's another whole story, maybe another time. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, be talking ya another time.

# 7 Super Tonic Updated 3/14/2007

The Talker said...
Health Wise # 4
Super Tonic
cayenne ( red pepper) -one to two tablespoons
horseradish -
apple cider vinegar
Depending on how much you want to make. Half cup of each ingredient.
( see separate pepper amount above )
chop /cut /mash/ or pound ingredients to fit into a blender.
Pour in just enough apple cider vinegar to just cover the ingredients.
Run the blender just long enough to slurry the mix.
Pour into pint , quart, or gallon jars. Each container is filled to the half level. Top off with more apple cider vinegar to fill container.
If using metal covers put a baggie over the jar top first than the cover. Stuff will eat away metal covers. My jars and covers are glass , with rubber ring to make a seal, and has a flip lever thing to make it lock. Shake once a day. Can start to use right away. But it will get stronger in a few days. Can keep refrigerated if desired.I leave mine out no cooling.
I use it straight, as is. You may want a tablespoon full in half cup of water. Gargle with and swallow as / if needed for throat area things. Take as often as you want, for immune system build up. Take every half hour for five hours if under attack by any "bug".
My understanding, of this combination, is that it is equal to or better then most "broad spectrum" antibiotic prescriptions. It will ( so I've read ) destroy both, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and will knock out the "bad guys" in the gut, and increases the healthy bacteria. Some day I will set up the microscope and try an experiment of how effective this Super Tonic really is.
It also makes , by the way, a dandy salsa sauce.
P.S. Thursday, March 15, 2007. Had received a few inquiries on how long "Super Tonic" would last, before spoiling and still be effective. For starters am not sure if it ever spoils. My original batch was made November 9, 2002, and the last of it was finally used March 14, 2007. So, that is four years and four months. Was it still good to use! Did it still have a "kick", taste wise? So I pop a tablespoon of Super Tonic into my mouth, without water, and the fun began. After the assaulted in my head diminished, I could feel a heat wave flowing throughout my body. Wow,aroma good, taste good, effect good, still alive the next day, so I guess mix is still okay. Like when I made the original batch, I prepared to much ingredient. I had to dump about a quart of slurried mix. When blending this mix, there is a pungent aroma in the air. So a rule of thumb would be, open a window or door, have a tissue ready to wipe your eyes, and start making the mix. Would suggest that only one cupful of each ingredient be made at a time. I use a heavy duty Vita Mix unit. Any blender could be used, just don't overload it. It is a bit of a mess, but well worth the effort. From my point of view, Super Tonic is more effective then any antibiotic, and the price is right.

# 6 Honegar

Health Wise # 3
The Talker
Honegar: As a starting point use,
Equal amounts of Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar.
( Clover is tastier, but I have tried many other flavors )
(DON'T USE WHITE VINEGAR, it is made from non-food things. )
It takes a bit of stirring to get it mixed right. Flavor is a tarty, slightly sweet taste. Honegar helps to balance ones internal electrolytes. Supplies a quick energy boost. Helps one to tolerate heat. Straight Apple Cider Vinegar ( no honey ) " one teaspoonful- or more "before eating will improve most peoples digestion, as nearly all people now suffer from a LACK of digestive juices, this is CONTRARY to what most doctors tell one. Diabetics and hypoglycemics would need to be careful doing this Honegar drink. As I understand it there is the sugar in the blood thing to cope with. I have no problem with it, but use at your own risk . When the heat is trying to nail me ( working outside ) I will take a tablespoonful, straight, and a tablespoonful in a glass of water.
Will often when strenuously involved in the heat, and sweating a river, toss in a pinch, of SEA salt, ( NOT REGULAR SALT ). Finding good Sea Salt is really a problem. Basically a trial and error thing. There is a trick , not many are aware of , is to put a pinch of Sea salt directly on ones tongue first, then drink a glass of water. This allows ones body to treat this glass of water very differently , ( at least its what I read ) than a regular drink of water, allowing one to rehydrate some what more efficiently. Have been doing it for many years, and it hasn't killed me as yet. Yuckle, yuckle. Be Well

# 5 Oil of Oregano # 1: Updated 1/13/2008

Health Wise.
Oil of Oregano :
Have used Oil of Oregano. ( still am ) It is a good product . At this point I'm not sure if any other source is as potent, as North American Herb and Spice Company. My experience is , if being used for a health condition, one might want to either increase the dose, or use three or four times a day. It has a very strong aroma, and if used with Oregamax, will clear out a lot of unwanted "bugs". Am closely monitoring "conditions"as time passes. It's use in treating the SARS thing could surpass Super Tonic, at least that's what my research shows. Now I'm not saying this stuff is an answer to all ills, but I am saying that" I am stocked up with another Oil of Oregano and Oregamax. Same company has even stronger products for the "more serious" things. Pick up a copy of " The Cure Is In The Cupboard" , ISBN 0-911119-74-4. Book is by Dr Cass Ingram, who is in trouble, at least from what I've read. He is listed as a quack, and is posted in Canada as a fake! Regardless , I like what and how he writes. So will buy some more of his books.
Product and books can be ordered from

( Updated 1/13/2008 )
Oregano is high on antioxidant activity which is probably the origin of the many health benefits of oregano oil. Oregano Oils thymol and carvacrol are believed to be the main sources of its benefits. The most widely known and spread benefit of oregano oil is its ability to cure mild stomach problems. It is also well known for its cough-clearing qualities. However, Oregano has many other benefits, among these: exterminating fungus, digestive problems, migrane headaches, athletes foot, sore throat, breathing problems, drandruff (and other skin problems).

# 4 Grapefruit Seed Extract: Updated 1/13/2008

Grapefruit Seed Extract not grape seed is the product. First time I went to buy it , store clerks kept showing me grape seed , which is not the same stuff.

I came across this product a few years back . It has lived up to everything that was written about it . It is bitter tasting , a bitterness like a mix of lemon, lime and grapefruit. Used internally I mix it with plain water. ( 1/8 cup ). While I use it straight with-out diluting on toe nails , its too strong for the skin , unless mixed with a bit of extra virgin olive oil.

Product is listed as "broad spectrum antimicrobial" and from my experiences in using it , it actually works . Queasy stomach, brown toe-nail, skin torn by a rose bush thorn, scratchy throat out comes the GSE . Will also make " unsafe undrinkable water " , into " safe drinkable water ".
( GSE = grapefruit seed extract ) Nutribiotic Inc, is the company that makes the brand of GSE that I use.

Guess this GSE is like the Super Tonic I make and use. A " Universal Remedy " is what GSE is called, and also is what I call the ST ( ST = Super Tonic ) .

Check out " The Healing Power of Grapefruit Seed " by S. Sharamon and Bodo J. Baginski.
ISBN 0 - 914955 - 27 - 6 . Has 150 pages of info on use for people , plants and pets.

I use the liquid, but it also comes in tablet form.

( Updated 1/13/2008)

Grapefruit Seed Extract: Efficient DisinfectantAugust 18th, 2004 · 5 CommentsGrapefruit Seed Extract is a powerful disinfectant. It can be used to disinfect wounds, sterilize fruit and vegetables, purify drinking water, sanitize dishes, countertops and cutting boards and inhibit bacteria growth in pools and spas. The active ingredient of grapefruit seed extract is synthesized from the seed and pulp of certified organically grown grapefruit. The process converts the grapefruit bioflavonoids (polyphenolics) into an extremely potent compound that kills Strep, Staph, Salmonella, E. Coli, Candida, Herpes, Influenza, parasites, and fungi.
Research indicates that GSE appears to disrupt the cytoplasm membrane in such a way that the organism is unable to uptake necessary amino acids. While researchers do not yet fully know how GSE works, they do know that it is effective against an overwhelming number of pathogens.
In numerous tests it has shown to have no side effects and is non-toxic to humans and animals. It also environmentally friendly and biodegrades.
It is especially useful for sterilizing baby toys, bottles and clothes because it is non-toxic and harmless to babies. Only the undiluted extract will irritate eyes and skin.
For more information on laboratory studies on Grapefruit Seed Extract (or GSE) see: this Intelihealth page or The Healthing Power of Grapefruit Seed by Shalila Sharamon and Bodo Baginkski. Other books with further information are: Nature’s Antiseptics: Tea Tree Oil and Grapefruit Seed Extract by C.J. Puotinen and The Authoritative Guide to Grapefruit Seed Extract by Allan Sachs.
Abstract of one study can be found here.
Stephen Harrod Buhner, author of Herbal Antibiotics says “The exact manufacturing process [of Grapefruit Seed Extract] is a closely kept secret, and there some (disputed) evidence that the commercial process involves more than a simple extraction procedure. It is unknown whether simple home extraction processes will produce the same efficacy as the commercial extract. The seeds, peel, and leaves may all be used.”
Commercial extracts suitable for disinfection are NutriBiotic or Citricidal. These products are available from health food stores.

# 3 Chit Chat # 2 Optimal Health

What is health ?
What is good health ?
What is not so good health?
Belief Factors are ?
How can one have better health ?

Think you have the answer !

Well, join me in the confusion of making sense of it all.
Talk to any number of persons and one gets that number of various descriptions of health.
The answers received are so varied, that one is left with " what does being healthy actually mean".
Having had an innate curiosity about this subject all my life, I asked various people about it. Many replies were kind of vague, some what like"different strokes for different folks" thing.

Well , one knows what "not so good" health is.
The hurts, aches, pains, indigestion, cant sleep right, poor vision, loss of hearing, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, loss of hair, too much hair, cancer, diabetes, allergies, prostate, clogged arteries, and the list could go on and on, almost with no end.

So now we come to , " how can one have better health". It never dawned on me until I came across a blurb, from, one of what I'll call a "good doctor".
Simply put the good doctor said:
Here I could add :

This brought to mind that old saying one often hears, "KISS",
meaning " keep it simple stupid". Easier said than done, right !
Well, yes and no.
Like another saying goes" how does one eat a big elephant, piece by piece".
So lets check it out.
In the process of looking for "what would help in getting better health" , one finds that there are literally hundreds of products that ( make - keep - maintain - are necessary ) to be healthy. True or not , who could afford to buy all those products. Plus, many of the products sold these days, just don't have in them , what is supposed to be in the product .
Oh boy. Simple huh?
So , what is good health ?
Well, you could try to convince me other wise, but unless it includes the following, it won't wash.
Job or retirement monies, that allows the means to do what one wants, when they want it, the ability to come and go, when and where one so desires to go. Good health is also not needing to decide between eating , medication or fixing the car. Good health can also be , being happy with what you have and actually enjoying it. Here we have the thinking process at work, which is good. Again , we could go on and on, but you get the point.

Along with all the above , we hit upon a thought that "rattles many cages". Some people "just don't want to be well". Huh, come again ! Give me a break ! You're kidding , right?
Nope , it is really true, at least from what I've read on the subject.

Here I must digress a tad, and remind one, that my interests ranged into numerous subjects, ( not that it matters) but now we need to swing over into the bible here. In the bible are little bits of information ( regardless of what one thinks about the bible) that allude to "how you think and believe "has an affect in you life.

So, now we find many that think " I'm not worthy", " my job stinks", "I just don't care any more"," my marriage is ....?...." , " my love life is...?.....", " I just can't get ahead", and hundreds more can be listed here. All these conditions " do " affect you, from or at some level of your being.
Where does that put us in the corrective process?

KISS is the starting point. But start now. Do the free things first. Do it piece by little piece.

If one can, "think ones self sick, stands to reason, we can think ourselves better".

If we "screwed it up , we can unscrew it", unless one stripped the threads of course. This would mean only that "more time is spent at the bottom of the barrel".

Don't ever believe that the Creator is at the root of your problems. We jump into the barrel and wind up not liking how it feels. Of course "we are not at fault", its just that mean " Creator " testing and picking on us, right ! Many were taught in their formative years , " the poorer and sicker you are the better the chance of reaching heaven".
Try paying tuition, groceries, gas and lights, rent, buying a house , or paying a hospital bill , with, " I"m poor or sick".

Oh, you expected better solutions and fixes!

Sorry, that's another telling, that may yet show up. Hope I didn't bore you too much.

# 2 Health Wise # 1 Dangerous !

5:02 PM
The Talker said...
Recently I read a very interesting Consumer Report on " Dangerous Supplements Still at Large." Many of the detrimental aspects mentioned are valid, if not used properly. I for one try to get my home work on herbs done , before taking any product. I still use a couple shown on this list. Have for many decades.
But now at almost eighty years of age I maybe should be concerned about how my herb usage might kill me before I get old. ( LOL ) "D" will probably throw what product remains my herb cabinet , in with my body when it gets tossed into the fire. So be it.
Real problem though, is some herbs need to be aged for a year, or dried properly, or used only for a short period of time and 100% identified by Latin name. Those things just don't happen all the time. Much of what I see and hear about herbs is contrary to proper usage of herbs. So people will get some serious detrimental results. Another serious condition is created when an herb is fractionated into specific components and added back to the whole of the same herb to create more of a kick. I do not use standardized herbs for that reason. In fact if all herbs used, were used whole , many problems would just disappear.
Most doctors are just not able to advise anyone about herb usage , bless them.
Now realistically, I don't expect a regular medical doctor to be 100% knowledgeable in herb usage. Just don't discourage one from using herbs. If I could find a medical doctor that would say "OK Talker, I'll work with you and monitor your progress", I would be absolutely delighted. Am I smarter than the doctor, give me a break now. No I'm not smarter than the doctor, but I do know how my body is feeling at all times. From what I've observed in many situations , is that many doctors draw erroneous conclusions , at your expense. If I blow a liver or kidney or what ever, it would be from my pushing an herbs action to the max and beyond its intended usage I'll spare you my usual diatribe on doctors, but I do dislike and am truly annoyed at what many doctors do , most are classified ( not all ) in my memory banks as pure idiots. Many herb users ( I'm included here ) can with a little effort wiggle into this ( idiot ) classification. Heck, I'm not perfect, and don't pretend to be perfect, but I am careful.
Hey , nice to have a sounding board. Until my next creative outburst.

#1 Dean The Talker

Dean the Talker Posted by Hello

This has been an interesting go-around, setting this up. So now, lets see how long this action, can stay problem free. There are so many subjects and areas of interest, that one could ponder on and on, for a month of Sundays, without end.
What has taken place to date, reminds me of the "Sisyphus" person that rolls the rock up a hill, and just before reaching the top of the hill, the rock starts rolling back down , over and over. This applies to just about every area of interest that has been looked into. Was content in my gross ignorance, until I started using the computer. Than I became one mass of total confusion. The more I looked and researched, seems like the more ignorant I became. This held true until I read a little item in a book. The item went on to say" The more we understand, the more we discover, how much we do not understand". Ahaa, as I say ,dig in and sort it all out. Well, I found out, its not quite that simple. For every "sounds ok", there were as many rebuttals that stated "no, what you just researched is wrong". So back to the drawing board, so to speak. This is like opening Pandoras box. There is a contradictory opinion on every subject looked into.
So , here I am ,ready to expound on what I think may be " right for me".
Lets start it with this . My dislike of most doctors. There has to be "good" ones out there. Would truly like to hear about the"good" ones. To date , there are very few, that I would trust, to get near me with a scalpel or prescription pad. What have you experienced?
